Obituary for Virginia Allen
Virginia L. Allen of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, April, 22, 2019 at the age of 76.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Pastor Janet Miller officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Virginia Lou Allen was born on October 7, 1942 to Harvey & Francis (Keller) Leapley in Laurel, NE. She continued her education and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD in 1961. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator for several years.
On April 23, 1965 she married David A. Allen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple had three children, Michael, Suzanne and Laura. Virginia and David lived in Watertown for 47 years and had celebrated 50 years of marriage. She was employed at Oak Valley Farms as a Processing Manager and then at Dakota Tobacco until retiring.
Family was important to Virginia and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. You could often find Virginia enjoying her favorite pastime of reading.
Virginia is survived by her children, Suzanne (Chris) Rebana of Jacksonville, NC, and Laura (Tom) Bonin of Wichita, KS; two great-grandchildren, Rhiannon and Skyler; brother, Walter (Nancy) Leapley of Lincoln, NE; sister, Eva Dene (Lester) Vander Well of Reno, NV; and sister-in-law, DeAnn Leapley of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; her son, Michael Allen; and her granddaughter, Casey Allen.
