Obituary for Roger Maurice Fox

Roger Maurice Fox, age 77, died on Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Roger spent his final days at Ava’s House by Sanford Health surrounded by friends and family after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke on May 8, 2019.

Roger was born on November 30, 1941 in Watertown, SD to Fred Anthony Fox and Renelda Johanna (Kaiser) Fox. Roger graduated from Watertown High School in 1960 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in 1964 from Huron College.

Roger received his Master of Science degree from North Texas State University in 1966 and his Juris Doctorate degree from University of South Dakota in 1971 before returning to Watertown where he practiced law both privately and as state’s attorney.

Roger had two children, Brett Robert Fox and Lisa Jean Fox-Boschee.

After retiring from practicing law, Roger continued to share his love of law through his work as a teacher at Horizon Charter School in Phoenix, Arizona. He always looked forward to leading mock trials with his students.

Later, Roger moved to Boise, ID to be closer to his son, Brett and grandson, Zack before returning to Watertown to be closer to his daughter, Lisa and granddaughters, Harper and Finley.

Roger enjoyed spending time working on his home, especially his lawn and you could often find him relaxing on his deck soaking in the outdoors. Roger loved spending time with his beloved dog Jake who was his constant companion. Roger enjoyed spending time on his pontoon on Lake Kampeska.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Ryan) Boschee and three grandchildren, Zack of Boise, ID, Harper and Finley of Sioux Falls, SD; and his siblings, Dwayne Fox of Palm Springs, CA, Judie (Leonard) Eng of Minnetonka, MN, Tony (Barb) Fox of Chandler, AZ, and Lorin Halling, Rick (Mary) Fox and Julie Fox all of Watertown, SD.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul Fox, and his son, Brett.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., with visitation for one hour prior to the services on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel, 1111 4th Street NE, Watertown . Reverend Jesse Hurkes will officiate with special music by Hope Gauger.
