Obituary for Paul A. Davis
Paul A. Davis, 57, of Castlewood, SD, passed away at his home on February 10, 2019. Lonnie Davis and Karen Bell invite you to a public visitation that will be held in Paul's honor at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5 - 7 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. led by Rev. Bill Hamill.
Honorary urn bearers will be his brothers, Lonnie, Mark, and Danny; friends Gareth and Sharla Hamen, Missy Flegel, Aryica DeBoer, Karen Bell, his special dog pal Cody Davis and the entire Castlewood community.
Paul Anthony Davis was born on August 4, 1961 to James and Chrystal (Stanley) Davis in Watertown, SD. Paul grew up in Castlewood and graduated from Castlewood Public High School in 1979. After High School he worked as a Police Officer in Castlewood and Springfield, SD.
He was known as an avid outdoorsman. Paul loved to fish, hunt and he especially enjoyed trapping. As his brother said, he was one of the best trappers in the state of South Dakota and took pride in it. He was a kind and gentle soul who looked out for his fellow man by providing food from his community garden to having a coke and good conversation on a friend’s back patio. You could always see Paul driving around Castlewood making stops here and there chatting up conversation. His two grandchildren, Boe and Elaina meant the world to him.
Paul is survived by his father, Jim Davis; sons, Steven and Brian Davis; grandchildren, Boe and Elaina Davis; brothers, Lonnie Davis (Karen Bell), Mark Davis, Danny Davis; and sister, Carol Person; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Chrystal; brother, Michael Davis; and sister, Diane Halling.
Paul will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
