Obituary for Gil Haar
Gil Haar, 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Watertown with Father Michael Wensing officiating. Music will be provided by Blaine Martian as song leader accompanied by Jane Rokusek.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., with a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17th at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Pallbearers will be Samuel, Benjamin and Jack Garrett, Loren Gearman, Chad Christensen and Duane Haar.
Gilbert Armin Haar, son of Erhard and Anna (Hofer) Haar was born on December 18, 1939 in Roscoe, SD. He attended school in Roscoe and Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD. After graduating from Glenham High School Gil worked in Mobridge.
On December 28, 1963 he married Betty Krumm in Mobridge, SD. They moved to Tulsa, OK where he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics.
Gil and Betty returned to Mobridge and they had three children, Kellie, Patrick and Kristen. Gil began working for phone company, retiring after 30 plus years. Gil and Betty moved to Watertown and Gil worked for Jim Weber at Weber Electric and at Menards for a few years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Gil is survived by his wife, Betty of Watertown; their children, Kellie Garrett of Sioux Falls, SD, Patrick Haar of Omaha, NE, and Kristen Haar of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Armond (Geri) Haar of Aberdeen, SD, and Arnold (Net) Haar of Rapid City, SD; one sister, Ruth Weig of Aberdeen, SD; four grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Vic Schlomer of Mobridge, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Schlomer.
