Obituary for Carol F. Haider
Carol F. Haider, 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Paul Rutten officiating. Music will be furnished by the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir accompanied by Danielle Holmquist-Holida.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4th at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Honorary pallbearers will be all Carol's grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be: Cory and Lee Ehlebracht, Justin Brandsrud, Jacob Kranz, Doug Friskey, David Schreurs, and Jeff and Ronnie Friskey.
Carol Faye Haider was born on December 22, 1939 to William "Bill" and Luella (Peterson) Schreurs in Watertown, SD. She grew up in Watertown where she attended public schools.
On November 2, 1957 she married Maynard Wangen in Watertown, SD. Maynard passed away on July 4, 1963.
She married Jerome Haider on October 10, 1964 in Watertown, SD.
Carol's main focus was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and naturally her furbabies, Dolly, Babe and Halo were never lacking for treats and love.
Carol was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a former member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She enjoyed reading the Watertown Public Opinion daily, doing word searches and watching her favorite game shows. Carol collected many bells and cookbooks and loved baking. Jerome and Carol traveled south to warmer temperatures for several winters visiting family.
Carol is survived by her husband, Jerome of Watertown; her children, Christine (Lonny) Ehlebracht, Joseph (Lisa) Haider, Carla (Mike) Kranz and Paul Haider all of Watertown; one brother, Russell (Akiko) Schreurs of Ladson, SC; her sister, Ruth (Glen) Friskey of Watertown; 11 grandchildren: Cory, Lee, Tyler, Tiffany, Justin, Brandi, Jacob, Jayde, Brittany, Mckenzie and Mikhayla; 10 great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Maynard Wangen, her daughter, Theresa Haider, her son, Dean Wangen, her grandson, Jimmy Cotton, two brothers and sisters-in-law, DeLyle (Betty) Fordyce and Robert "Bob" (Lottie) Schreurs, and one sister, Bonnie Block.
